This past weekend I attended two shows around LA. The first was an opening at Known Gallery on Fairfax which featured a sweet group show with works by the likes of Alex Pardee, El Mac, Retna, Craola, Dabs/Myla and a smittering of other artists who go by a single name. There was a great eclectic mix of work never lacking in flavor and some beautiful pieces in the mix.
We followed this up by hitting the Manifest Equality closing party the same night and attempting to take in all the amazing work and allowing it to inspire us. The space was huge, the music was good and the work was off the hook. The pieces included installations, crafts, prints, paintings, photos and multimedia pieces. While the work was variable in medium, the consistent message weaved everything together into a very visually fulfilling experience.
