D-Signed promo video

A few weeks ago I completed a project for Disney and Target for the upcoming clothing line collaboration with Demi Lovato. It was done with the help of some awesome folks at A Common Thread and super talented Ross Ching of Little Bribes fame.

The video is a mixture of live action and animated sequences that were done in a really unorthodox way. (It took four cups of coffee and a brain cramp for me to visualize the first time around.) The biggest challenge was creating transitions between the two that would look natural within the flow of the video and would feel like the animations are part of the story.

To create the animation, each of the panels is drawn on a folded series of pages which the actor unfolds as they go along in a specifically choreographed order. Opening and closing the panels creates the illusion of motion. We brainstormed everything from post-it flipbooks to paper dolls and some of the ideas show up in the final piece. I don’t post a lot of typographic work on this site, so here is something a bit different.

This is an identity created for a new media consulting company called canv.as. I started the process by presenting a series of typographic logos from which three were chosen as possible candidates. From there I created the logos by hand and we eventually chose the best candidate. The final step was choosing a treatment for the image – from supersketchy to a cleaner version. American Psycho

This book was created for my typography class. It is a collection of typographic covers made for the novel American Psycho by Bret Easton Ellis. Each section of the book features several covers with increasing complexity. The last three sections are printed as full-color pull-outs which wrap around the spine so you can unfold and “try on” the cover.

Transparency is Inevitable

Book project created based on the essay Transparency is Inevitable by Daniel Goleman.

The essay points to the prospect that in the future, when information about the origin of products is readily available to the average consumer, not only will people be more informed about what they are paying for but the companies that produce goods will be more responsible in their manufacturing. He closes the essay by stating that consumerism is just another form of democracy and we vote with out wallets every day. As the Coffee Cup poster asks – Do you know what you are paying for?
